"Stay Home" Modernist & Post-Modernist Posters

For my Intermediate Typography class in college, we were tasked with picking a topic to create two posters that were inspired by Modernist and Post-Modernist design. The topic I chose was to avoid traveling and stay home during the COVID-19 pandemic. In preparation for this project, we studied various examples of modernism and post-modernism in design throughout history, and learned to mimic techniques used by those designers.

The main concept I studied through these posters was how to "Make the Grid" and then "Break the Grid". Making the grid (first poster) is the modernist approach where you create a uniform structure to design with. Breaking the grid (second poster) is when you deviate from modernist "boxy" grid structure and instead create a new grid structure from the form of something, like an object. In my case, I created a grid structure from falling leaves in order to convey a downward landing movement to reference "staying home".
